A ceremonial and historic county in the West Midlands of England, also commonly referring to Worcestershire sauce, a pungent fermented condiment originating from this region.
I always add a dash of Worcestershire to my homemade beef stew for extra depth of flavor.
Etymology
The name derives from Old English, combining the name of the city of Worcester (originally Weogoran-ceaster, meaning "fort of the Weogoran people") with the Old English word "scir" meaning a shire or administrative county.
