ZH

describing a person who feels clear-headed, refreshed and in good spirits

After going out for a walk in the early morning, I just feel completely refreshed and clear-headed.

Etymology

This Chinese idiom first appeared in the Song Dynasty text 'Yun Qi You Yan' by Zhang Junfang, originally used to describe the fresh, open feeling of a mountain forest environment, and later extended to describe a person's clear, relaxed mental state.

Memory Aid

Break the idiom into four characters: shén (spirit) + qīng (clear) + qì (vital energy) + shuǎng (refreshed) = clear spirit, refreshed energy — a fully refreshed state.
